The last I checked on this topic was quite some time back. I’m much more into Web Marketing. Nonetheless, interesting post and I would check back once more soon and get myself much more updated.

Large follower of your blog, a number of your blogposts have really helped me out. Looking towards up-dates!
HMA Web Hosting Terms You Should Know
Web server - A computer setup to display web sites. Shared hosting- Your web site shares space on web server with other businesses. Typically 500 or more websites are on a single server. Response times can be slow at times as all sites compete for limited resources. You do not have full access to the server and many configuration settings are not available to you. Usually ok for development, personal sites, low traffic, or business card style websites. Low cost FREE - $25 and up per month. If your company's traffic is low enough and your needs simple you can do fine with a plan that cost under $10. HMA - Hidden MArketing Assets are assets and simple processes you already have or can implement to greeat increase sales, profits, and typically can lower your marketing costs. Dedicated hosting - Your web site is the only web site on the web server. Much higher cost than shared hosting, but there are no other sites to compete with for resources. Response times are typically much better, typically no limits on configurations and you have full server access. Large sites may need to have multiple dedicated servers to handle their level of traffic. This can be a great option for an established site that knows their traffic patterns. More expensive though as it will typically cost $100 plus per month per server for a low end server. VPS (Virtual Private Server) - A hybrid / mix of dedicated and shared hosting. You typically get full access to your virtual server, but it is one of several virtual servers sharing a physical server. You should get better response times than shared hosting, but not as great as a dedicated server. This is great for development, medium traffic sites, and newer sites that do not know their traffic needs. Allows for more reliable service than shared hosting with the ability to scale easily. Pricing can very but typically starts at $20 or more per month per server for a low end server. Cloud - Sometimes called on demand hosting, It is similar to a VPS, but is able to scale to handle the needs of very large or even popular web sites and you pay for only what you use. Thought to have a near endless supply of resources. Pricing is similar to a utility company though. You pay for the number of cpu cycles (time used) and the amount of data transferred. It is hard to give a price for this service it depends on what you use. Although, it will typically end up being about the same as a VPS for most companies starting out, but it allows for instant growth and scalability. Be careful though as this option can easily cost you a lot more money if your site gets a lot of traffic but no sales. Just be careful when selecting your limits and be prepared to pay the maximum you allow.
